Temperature sensors built on-site reduce downtime, inventory and expediting costs
Watertown, MA - Applied Sensor Technologies (AST) announces the Sensor Box, a new concept in temperature sensor programs designed to improve process uptime, reduce expediting and premium charges, and lower MRO inventory. Sensor Box consists of a modular system of sensor elements, accessory parts and tools - everything needed for a maintenance technician to build a variety of replacement temperature sensor assemblies easily and quickly on-site.
One of the on-going issues facing maintenance is the replacement of temperature sensors that fail in service. A common complaint is that the sensor that fails is the one they don't have. It is difficult and expensive for a plant to keep "one of everything" on the shelf, in case of emergency. This leads to expediting, rush delivery charges and potentially lengthy down time. Typically, best-case delivery in the industry is 1 day, frequently with expensive premium fees.
Sensor Box changes all that, reducing the replacement time to typically less than 1 hour! Also, in most cases, inventory of sensors can be greatly reduced. The modular nature of the program gives it great flexibility and cost-effectiveness. The Sensor Box can be customized for the particular requirements of almost any process plant, from refining and chemicals, to power generation, to food, beverage and pharmaceuticals.
